Tribal Council Launches $226M Expansion
The Sycuan Tribal Council launched a $226 million hotel and casino expansion at its East San Diego County reservation in El Cajon, CA. The development is planned to include a 12-story, 300-room hotel, an 11,400-square-foot ballroom and 60,000 square feet of gaming space.
The resort expansion covers 500,000 square feet in total, and is slated to be completed in 2019. The property, located 5469 Casino Way, is owned and operated by the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Indians, which opened the facility more than three decades ago.
In addition to adding its first hotel property, new amenities include an eight-acre pool complex with a lazy river and a separate pool for adults, a 1.5-acre garden, a nearly 8,500-square-foot spa, as well as new restaurants and bars. Expanded casino floor space will accommodate a total of 2,500 Class III machines, 300 Class II machines and 80 table games throughout the facility.
