Transwestern Plans 139 Micro Units in Austin

Transwestern Development Co. will break ground next month on Indie Apartments, a micro-unit apartment development at 1648 E. Sixth St. in Austin, TX. The first phase of the 139-unit apartment property is expected to deliver in August of next year.

Indie Apartments will feature 350-square-foot studio apartments and 520-square-foot two-bedroom units; all furnished. Transwestern will also develop 2,500 square feet of restaurant space on the half-acre site.

“Younger generations like millennials have personal incomes that aren’t growing as fast as rental rates in most areas, yet they want to live in the middle of restaurants, bars and entertainment areas,” said Josh Delk with Transwestern Development. “This project will answer that growing demand for more efficient, affordable living space that is located close to numerous amenities.”
