Trans-Pacific Partnership Positive for IE
The Inland Empire could bode well from the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
Last month, the United States and 11 Pacific Rim countries, who together account for 40 percent of global goods and services output, passed the trade agreement, marking the largest trade pact in history.
Congress has yet to approve the deal, but from a past meeting in Riverside, lawmakers learned that 9.2 percent overall economic output is attributable to merchandise exports coming out of the IE.
Additionally, the biopharmaceutical industry received unprecedented intellectual property and market protections from the TPP, which will augur well for UC Riverside’s new public medical school that opened in 2013.
