Towne Twin Village Homeless Project Moves through Zoning Process
The tentatively named Towne Twin Village gained approval of San Antonio’s Zoning Commission to change 17 acres on the east side of town from its current industrial status.
The next step for the proposed development, which will be dedicated to housing approximately 250 older homeless people, is to obtain approval from the city council for the zoning change.
The proposed development at 4701 Dietrich Rd. is being spearheaded by the Housing First Community Coalition. Current plans call for the campus to contain apartments, tiny houses, recreational vehicles, a community center, showers, an amphitheater and green spaces. The project will target homeless individuals age 50 and older.
The land on which the development would be built is currently owned by JKCK Real Estate LLC. The Housing First Community Coalition obtained inspiration from Community First! Village in Austin, which is operated by Mobile Loaves and Fishes.
