TJX Plans 1.7M-SF El Paso Warehouse
Massachusetts-based TJX Companies, which operates the T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods retail chains, plans to build a 1.7-million-square-foot warehouse and distribution center on 200 acres of industrial land in East El Paso, the El Paso Times reported.
The company is expected to later add another 346,104 square feet to make the total facility just over two million square feet, for one of the largest facilities in this area. The proposed facility would distribute products for the company’s 1,130-plus Marshalls clothing stores across the U.S.
City and county officials have agreed to provide $14.3 million in tax rebates and other incentives to Marmaxx Operating Corp., a TJX business unit which operates T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, to build the distribution center, according to the El Paso Times.
The facility will be built on 200 acres of land owned by El Paso International Airport. The land was once earmarked as an industrial park.
