States Jockey to Land Massive Foxconn Display Panel Facility
Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn is considering at least seven states for a massive display panel factory investment. The states lining up for what’s being called a “once-in-a-generation prize” include Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana and Texas.
Foxconn plans to build the country’s first liquid-crystal display factory. The facility could generate upwards of 5,000 jobs at the plant, and potentially thousands more at other undetermined U.S. operations the company intends to launch.
The company is the biggest contract assembler of smartphones and other devices for Apple and other brands. A decision about developing operations in at least three states is expected by early August.
