Stater Bros. Getting New CEO

Stater Bros., the Inland Empire’s most dominant grocer, has a new chief executive officer.

Pete Van Helden is replacing Jack H. Brown in the lead executive role for the San Bernardino-based company.

Brown, who has been in the position for 36 years, said that Van Helden has already been doing the bulk of the CEO work at Stater Bros. for a while now. As Van Helden assumes the new title, he will spend more time dealing with public and corporate affairs, as well as financial markets. Brown will remain as the chairman of the company’s board.
