Star of City’s Innovation Economy Plans Move to Merchandise Mart
Logistics technology startup project44, which recently completed a $35-million Series B fundraising round, plans to take 40,000 square feet at the Merchandise Mart and create 200 new jobs by late 2019. Details on lease terms and timelines were not disclosed.
“Chicago is the heart of our domestic transportation ecosystem, a global hub for enterprise SaaS [software as a service] innovation and home to a range of Fortune 500 companies,” said Jeff McCandless, project44’s founder and CEO. “That unique ecosystem has accelerated our ability to build products that bring visibility and reliability to our global transportation networks.” Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Friday called project44 “an invaluable asset to Chicago’s innovation ecosystem.”
Founded in 2014, project44 moved into its current space at the Clark Adams Building in 2016. The Merchandise Mart footprint will be about four times the size.
