Spotify Takes 110K SF in DTLA’s Arts District

Spotify signed a nearly 110,000-square-foot lease at ASB Real Estate Investment’s and Blatteis & Schnur’s At Mateo complex in DTLA’s Arts District. The music-streaming service will relocate its regional headquarters from West Hollywood to the $80-million MXU retail and office property at 555 Mateo St.

The deal boosts the four-building, 195,000-square-foot complex to 85% leased, with Spotify as the largest occupier. Other At Mateo tenants include Soylent, (29,000 square feet), and USC’s Roski School of Art and Design (16,000 square feet). The Boka Restaurant group also plans to open a 7,000-square-foot Girl & the Goat restaurant next year, the first eatery to join the project.

The Spotify lease is a significant expansion of the Swedish-based company, which previously occupied an 8,200-square-foot space at 9200 Sunset Blvd.

JLL’s Tony Morales, Maureen Hawley and Jaclyn Ward represented the tenant. Cushman & Wakefield’s Pete Collins, Mike Condon Jr., Andrew Tashjian and Kelli Snyder advised the landlord.
