South OC’s Famed ‘Taj Mahal’ MOB Trades for $42M
Nashville-based Healthcare Realty has acquired the Taj Mahal medical office building in Laguna Hills, CA, for $42 million from the Mueller Company. Colliers International brokered the sale.
Originally built in 1964 to house Leisure World offices, the building last traded hands in the 1990s to Mueller, and was converted to medical office use in 2011.
According to Colliers SVP John Wadsworth in comments to the OC Register, “The scarcity of acquiring a medical building in Southern California, let alone South Orange County, located across the street from a strong hospital, coupled with its size and tenant mix, was incredibly rare.”
The Taj Mahal is directly across the street from Saddleback Memorial Hospital and Laguna Hills City Hall, within walking distance of the restaurants and retail amenities of nearby Laguna Hills Mall, and close to the Laguna Woods (formerly Leisure World) retirement community.
