South Korea’s Hana in Nearly $700M Deal to Buy Seattle Tower
South Korean Hana Alternative Asset Management and affiliates of Hana Financial Group are reportedly the buyers of Skanska’s newly delivered 2+U tower in Seattle for $688 million. The fully-leased, 38-story office building at Second Avenue between Union and University streets was developed by Skanska USA Development, which is part of Sweden’s Skanska AB.
Skanska is keeping mum about the potential deal, though issued a statement indicating “there are no material transactions to report.” Skanska indicated it is to be “expected that we explore opportunities,” noting it is “only interested in those that are best suited for 2+U, our tenants, the city of Seattle, our company, and are favorable for the long run.”
The anchor tenant of the 2+U tower is SAP Qualtrics, which leases 40% of the 686,000-square-foot building. Other tenants include Dropbox, Indeed and Spaces co-working.
Hana also was part of Seoul-based Lotte Hotels’ $175-million acquisition of the hotel in Seattle’s F5 Tower last year.
