SmartLabs to Open 16K-SF Research Facility in Kendall Square
Cambridge-based SmartLabs has announced plans to open a 16,000-square-foot animal research facility at 301 Binney St. in Kendall Square. The location is the flexible laboratory space provider’s fourth in the area.
The location will be available to both emerging as well as later-stage biotech and life science companies. The facility will allow researchers to run their own animal studies without building out their own facilities in Cambridge, where space is at a premium.
SmartLabs plans to fully renovate the facility, which has been used previously as an animal-research lab, and does not require additional permitting. The firm will have veterinarians and other scientists on staff who are focused on day-to-day animal welfare.
