Simon, Nobu Launch Atlanta MXU Hotel, Restaurant Destination

Simon Property Group and Nobu Hospitality broke ground on Phipps Plaza’s mixed-use redevelopment in Atlanta that will be headlined by the arrival of Nobu Hotel and Restaurant Atlanta, along with a 90,000-square-foot Life Time healthy living and entertainment destination and a curated dining experience. Plans also include One Phipps Plaza, a 13-story, 350,000-square-foot Class A office building.

Simon’s David Simon says, “Phipps Plaza has long been a luxury icon in the Southeast, and this expansion will further elevate its exceptional position by creating a reimagined destination to live, work, shop, and dine, unlike any other in the region.”

Nobu Hotels, founded by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, envisions blending a hotel and restaurant into one unique experience, featuring 150 rooms, and a 10,000-square-foot Nobu Atlanta Restaurant.

The project will also feature an outdoor event venue, and a multi-purpose courtyard. A phased opening of the redevelopment is slated to begin in early 2021.
