Shuttered Restaurant on Near West Side Sells to Chefs

A 3,000-square-foot mixed-use building and business assets located at 1001 N. Winchester Ave. on the Near West Side, formerly home of the Winchester restaurant, sold for a combined $960,000. SVN Chicago Commercial’s Tim Rasmussen and Marcus Sullivan represented the seller in the transaction, while Goldstreet Partners advised the buyers, husband-and-wife chef team Tim Flores and Genie Kwon, formerly of the Michelin-starred Oriole.

Flores and Kwon plan to open their restaurant and daytime cafe, Kasama, in the late spring of this year. Kasama will showcase specialties from both high profile chefs, including French pastries during the day and Fillipino-American dishes at night.

“This was a highly sought-after asset, with many of Chicago’s most respected chefs considering the location,” said Sullivan. “We look forward to the opening of Kasama.”
