Shopping, Dining Promenade Planned for The District Detroit

Olympia Development of Michigan LLC plans to develop a 43,000-square-foot European-style promenade on Columbia Street in Detroit. The cobblestone-paved street will emerge on The District Detroit site that’s been closed during the construction of Little Caesars’ $150-million world headquarters campus expansion project.

The developer envisions a festoon-lit walkway between Woodward and Park avenues, lined with retail and restaurants featuring outdoor dining areas. Six new stores are slated to open this summer in 16,700 square feet on one side of the project. There’s another four stores planned for 26,000 square feet of space on the ground floor of the new office building.

The Columbia Street development project was planned in 2014, along with the redevelopment effort of five neighborhoods in downtown Detroit’s northern part. The 50-block, mixed-use development area is anchored by Little Caesars Arena, the Fox Theatre and the new Little Caesars HQ.
