Shinola Flagship Goes on the Block
A six-story property on one of the remaining cobblestone streets in Tribeca, currently the Manhattan flagship for lifestyle brand Shinola, has come to market courtesy of Avison Young’s New York Capital Markets Group. Avison principals James Nelson and Charles Kingsley, along with associate director Eric Karmitz, will market the 12,100-square-foot asset at 177 Franklin St. on behalf of Bedrock, owner of Shinola.
The building is currently used in its entirety as retail and office space by Shinola, but could be easily converted into condominiums or a single-family home. Shinola will also consider other options, including a leaseback transaction to future ownership, or vacating the property upon its sale.
The property rests on a stretch of Franklin Street that was declared part of the Tribeca West Historic District in 1991. Design and development firm GDSNY repositioned what was then an unfinished shell at 177 Franklin before selling to Shinola.
