Seminary Partners with Lendlease, L+M on Morningside Hts. MXU

Lendlease has filed plans with the city’s Department of Buildings for a 42-story tower to be built as part of Union Theological Seminary’s $100-million Morningside Heights campus rehabilitation. The mixed-use tower will contain both residential condominiums and private space for the seminary.

Crain’s New York Business reported that Lendlease and L+M Development Partners are buying air rights from the seminary to build the tower. The developers will sell the condos, while the seminary will own the office space, faculty housing and classrooms.

The seminary announced earlier this month that it would devote $5 million of project funds toward a community investment fund. The fund is set to be awarded over a five-year period.

“We are proud to be part of this community investment initiative that will help ensure the Morningside Heights community has the needed resources to help tackle issues such as homelessness and inequality,” said Lendlease’s Melissa Roman Burch.
