Second YMCA Goes North in Houston Suburb

The YMCA of Greater Houston has broken ground on its second facility in Katy, TX. The 41,000-square-foot facility is going north at a cost of approximately $12 million. This suburban Houston town’s original YMCA is at 22807 Westheimer Pkwy.

The new Y at Katy Main Street will be at the intersection of Main Street and Kingsland Boulevard. The facility will serve residents in west and north Katy, as well as nearby towns.

The reason for the second YMCA on the Houston metro’s west side is because of increased demand for services. The facility will offer group exercise rooms, strength training and cardio equipment, an outdoor heated pool and basketball gym.
