Santa Clara Senior Housing Proposed Near Westfield Mall

Three developers are vying to build new Santa Clara senior housing projects on a six-acre site near the Westfield Valley Fair mall. The three firms competing for Santa Clara City Council approval are Core Companies, ROEM Corp. and USA Properties Fund.

The proposals all have additional residential components besides more Santa Clara senior housing. Core’s plans include 165 affordable senior units, as well as 16 other affordable apartments, 144 market-rate apartments and 34 market-rate townhomes. ROEM proposes 165 affordable senior units, 155 market-rate apartments and 10 market-rate, single-family homes. USA is suggesting 167 affordable senior apartments, as well as 125 market-rate senior units. All three plans also call for varying degrees of open space. Whichever company is selected must break ground prior to Jan. 5, 2017.
