San Marcos Prepares for Historic Resources Survey Report
The city of San Marcos contracted with Hicks & Co. Environmental, Archeological and Planning Consultants to conduct an historic resources survey report, its first since 1997. The report’s goal is to document historic-age buildings by collecting information on architectural styles, exterior materials and alterations conducted within the survey area during or before 1975.
The primary service area includes seven of the city’s local historic districts, downtown and an area south of the Texas State University campus. Researchers will also drive through the residential area north of the university, and take photos of historic-age properties.
The final report will include recommendations for local, state and federal historic designations. City Planner Alison Brake said that the recommendations will help when it comes to the city’s future policy direction.
