San Manuel Tribe Acquires 1,900-Acre Arrowhead Springs Hotel
The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians acquired the Arrowhead Springs Hotel, a 1,900-acre property located in San Bernardino’s Waterman Canyon. The former Campus Crusade for Christ-owned property was being marketed for sale at $60 million, though the final price was undisclosed.
The land is part of the Serrano Indians’ aboriginal homelands, and the natural hot springs were used by San Manuel ancestors. A distinguishing characteristic of Arrowhead Springs is an inverted arrowhead pattern on the hillside behind the hotel, that points to the natural hot springs below.
Development plans are still being discussed, though potential uses include schools, parks and ceremonial gathering places. San Manuel says the Arrowhead Springs property will provide “adequate space to meet the housing needs for our people in the coming decades.”
