San Diego County Unemployment On the Rise
San Diego County’s unemployment rate has increased to 5.4 percent in July, up from five percent in June.
The county lost 2,500 jobs between June and July, according to the California Employment Development Department. The state’s unemployment level is reportedly at 6.5 percent, and nationally the figure is 5.6 percent. Both increased slightly from June to July.
The largest losses in San Diego were in government, which lost 12,200 jobs. Leisure and hospitality helped soften the decline, posting gains of 5,300 jobs, while business professional and business services gained 2,400 jobs.
