SaaS Firm Attentive Raises $230M with $2.2B Valuation

Attentive, a text messaging SaaS platform widely used by major retailers, has raised a $230-million Series D investment round at a $2.2-billion valuation. The funding round was led by Coatue, which was joined by a mix of new and existing investors.

“Personalized two-way messaging at scale is the future of business-to-consumer communication,” said Brian Long, CEO and co-founder of Attentive, headquartered in the Flatiron District. “Mobile and e-commerce growth have been accelerated over a matter of months this year, creating a lasting impact on consumer behavior.

“Within a few years, consumers will expect all of their favorite brands and businesses to support real-time conversations via text messaging, in the same way they expect brands to have social media accounts today,” he added.

The Series D round brings Attentive’s total capital raise to $394 million. The company will use the additional capital to fuel new product introductions and increase headcount.
