Rivington Will Revamp Bushwick Warehouse into Apts.
DXA studio has been engaged by the Rivington Company to design a new residential property at 21 Garden St. in Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood.
Formerly the home of a woodworking company that made custom furniture pieces and cabinetry, the new rental development will be eight stories and a mix of both affordable and market-rate residences. The development will consist of approximately 50 units.
“We hope to draw upon some of the industrial character of the neighborhood,” said DXA co-founder Jordan Rogove, “and bring in some of what may be missing, in the form of trees and plantings, to the appropriately named Garden Street.”
The neighborhood, near the Broadway Triangle, has a recent history of manufacturing and assembly spaces, auto-body shops, and metalworking facilities. The addition of these residences will bring much needed housing to this area of Brooklyn, DXA says. A 2022 completion date is expected.
