Riverside Exploring New Private Development Downtown
A 2.7-acre redevelopment site in downtown Riverside is moving through the city’s planning process. Currently occupied by the Riverside Transit Agency and Greyhound, the city has decided to build a new library at the site, and sell part of the land to private developers.
Officials estimate the library project will cost upwards of $30 million. The process could last at least a year before residents would see a design or hear how the facility would be funded.
The main Riverside library is being moved to University Ave. and Fairmount Blvd., from its location next to the Mission Inn, where it’s been since 1903. The council voted unanimously to approve the move.
