Riverfront Brewery Concept Planned for Goose Island
Goose Island could soon see a brewery to call its own. The renowned Goose Island Beer Co. isn’t actually located on Goose Island, but a group is planning to build a brewery and event space there.
To be called Crossroads Brewery at the Boatyard, the project is slated for the Goose Island Boat Yard along the Chicago River’s North Branch. It will include a 6,500-square-foot beer garden and a marina for 10 to 12 boats.
In the immediate vicinity, Chicago-based R2 Companies plans to develop several properties into modern office campuses and riverfront activities, which bodes well for the Crossroads project.
“Riverfront sites around Goose Island represent a huge untapped opportunity for food, beverage and entertainment now allowed under the North Branch Framework,” R2 managing principal Matt Garrison told the Chicago Tribune. “We are bringing in concepts that will be major amenities for Goose Island and our office tenants.”
