Report: Four Texas Counties Forecast for Top Economic Growth

Four Texas counties out of nine nationally have been named tops in forecast economic growth over the next five years, according to a report released by Oxford Economics. Denton and Collin counties, which are in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, took first and second place. Montgomery and Fort Bend counties, in the Houston area, took third and sixth places, respectively.

Six of the nine counties forecast to have the strongest economic growth are suburban. The reason why Oxford is predicting a high concentration of growth among these counties is because of millennials. Matthew Mowell, senior economist at Oxford Economics, said that millennials are starting to settle down and have families, which means that suburbs are likely to grow faster than city cores.
