Related California Tops Off 431K-SF Building in San Francisco

Related California topped out 49 South Van Ness, a visionary new 431,000-square-foot office building in San Francisco. The development will be the future home for San Francisco’s Department of Public Works, the Planning Department, Department of Building Inspection, DPH Environmental Health, Entertainment Commission, Board of Appeals and Office of Cannabis, along with the City’s permitting staff.

Completion and occupancy are anticipated in the first half of 2020. The building is part of a larger 2.5-acre mixed-use project at the former Goodwill site at 1500 Mission St. at South Van Ness Avenue that also includes a 550-unit apartment tower and 50,000 square feet of retail.

The Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) Architects-designed project uses View’s smart glass to improve people’s health and wellness, while simultaneously reducing energy consumption. Windows adjust automatically, eliminating the need for blinds or shades, while improving energy efficiency by up to 20%.
