Pru Center’s Top Floors to Get $125M Makeover
Boston Properties (BXP) plans a major repositioning of the top floors of the Prudential Center Tower, CEO Doug Linde told analysts on the REIT’s fourth-quarter conference call earlier this week. The company recently ended its lease with Select Restaurants, which has operated the Top of the Hub restaurant for half a century.
“Later this year, we expect to commence on major repositioning of the 50 to 52nd floors of the Prudential tower,” Linde said on Wednesday’s call. “We anticipate spending in excess of $125 million creating an extraordinary experience for local area residents and visitors to Boston.”
The repositioning will entail closing both the restaurant and the Skywalk observatory, effective in April. Linde declined to go into specifics about the new facilities’ design, or who will operate them.
BXP hopes to open the new space in mid-2022, Linde said. The REIT expects to announce further details in the coming weeks.
