Proposed FedEx Facility at Chino Airport Still in Discussion
This story has been updated as of 1:30 PM PT to reflect earlier inaccuracies. Corrections made: FAA has NOT approved the FedEx facility. The discussions are ongoing as of now.
Indianapolis-based Scannell Properties is in talks with the FAA to build a FedEx delivery facility at Chino Airport. The proposed 745,475-square-foot building still must be approved by the City of Chino, CA, the FAA and San Bernardino County, which own the airport.
In addition to an environmental study, the developer must acquire the land to build a main facility, as well as four support buildings near Merrill Ave. and Flight Ave. Envisioned as a parcel delivery hub facility, initial plans for the project involve ground freight, though no air freight.
FedEx declined to comment on the proposed project. The city is working with the developer to study preliminary plans, prior to county reviews.
