Prologis Starting First Facility at $1.2B Oakland Army Base Redev
The first ground-up development at the $1.2-billion Oakland Army Base redevelopment project is set to begin shortly. San Francisco-based Prologis Inc. plans to break ground on a 256,000-square-foot spec industrial facility at the Oakland Global Trade and Logistics Center.
Prologis called it a “major milestone,” after decades of planning and site work set the stage to breathe new life back into the 330-acre base that was shuttered in 1999. The infill project in a “premier location” is slated to be completed by mid-next year.
Prologis is working with the City of Oakland on a multi-phase redevelopment plan for its roughly 160-acre portion of the former military base. The Port of Oakland is also redeveloping its half of the site.
Colliers International’s Greig Lagomarsino, Mark Maguire, Kevin Hatcher and Michael Goldstein are handling the leasing of Prologis’ project.
