Principal Financial Commits to 45K SF in Minneapolis

Cushman & Wakefield represented owner Lingerfelt Commonwealth Partners in leasing 45,480 square feet of Class A office space to Principal Financial Group at Two22, a 41-story, 727,000-square-foot tower in the Minneapolis CBD. The property’s ownership is undertaking a major building renovation.

A Cushman & Wakefield team of executive director Tom Tracy and senior director Katie Tufford represented Lingerfelt Commonwealth. JLL managing director Brian Ginkel and VP Kevin Salmen represented Principal, which plans to occupy the property at 222 South 9th St. in early 2021.

“The Principal lease is evidence that major U.S. companies are committed to downtown Minneapolis,” said Tufford. “They have the vision to see downtown as a place for employees that is vibrant, safe and convenient.

“As the office market evolves – and how occupiers utilize space evolves – it’s also an indication that the renovations that are underway align with tenants’ requirements in today’s world,” she added.
