Preliminary Approval Granted to MPC Calallen South
The Corpus Christi (TX) Planning Commission has approved a preliminary plan for a 411-home master-planned community dubbed Calallen South. The local developer, Lance Walker, is handling development of the 117 acres off US 77 and Country Road 48. Walker’s father, Ace Walker, acquired the acreage two decades ago.
The Corpus Christi City Council already approved rezoning the acreage from agriculture to single-family purpose. Everett Roy, District 1 council member, indicated that the subdivision would be one of the largest to be developed in the area in many years.
The development will consist of six phases, with the first focused on infrastructure. Homes are expected to measure from 1,800 to 2,500 square feet, on 6,000-square-foot lots. Calallen South will be in the northwest part of Corpus Christi.
