Praxair Preps for La Porte Liquid Hydrogen Plant
Praxair Inc., headquartered in Danbury, CT, broke ground on its fifth liquid hydrogen plant in the U.S., which will be located in La Porte, TX. The company, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of international liquid hydrogen producer Linde plc, is building the plant near its air separation plant on Strang Road.
The new plant will be operational in 2021, and will produce 30 tons a day of high-purity liquid hydrogen. According to the company website, the new facility is being constructed in response to growing demand from customers in a variety of industries including material handling, aerospace, manufacturing, metals, energy and electronics.
Praxair operates more than 50 hydrogen generation plants and six pipeline networks globally. The La Porte liquefier will be integrated with the company’s 350-mile gulf coast pipeline network and storage cavern.
