Port San Antonio Generates Jobs
More than 400 new jobs were created within the past year on the Port San Antonio Campus, according to Port President and CEO Roland Mower. Mower, who presented the figures in the fourth annual State of the Port briefing, also pointed out that major infrastructure projects currently in progress total more than $150 million in the 1,900-acre space, the site of the former Kelly Air Force Base.
More than 70 private- and public-sector tenants employ approximately 12,000 people at the redeveloped base on San Antonio’s southwest side, generating more than $5 billion in regional economic activity each year. In October 2017, Indo-MIN will open. The India-based company, which manufactures small precision components, came to the Port in 2016 to open its first North American location.
