Port of Victoria’s Growth Preparations
The Port of Victoria in South Texas is preparing itself to stay competitive for larger, industrial projects by upgrading its road infrastructure beginning Q1 2017. During the next year and a half, $3.8 million will be invested to upgrade four roads to two lanes, with shoulders. The existing roads are narrow, and require updating.
Port officials are hoping to be the site for a multibillion-dollar project proposed by ExxonMobil and Arabia Basic Industries. Victoria County, in which the Port of Victoria is based, is one of four sites under consideration for the project. Victoria, TX is between Houston and Corpus Christi.
“Any business that is looking basically at any location is always checking to see what the infrastructure is and how it is set up – how easy it is to access to the property,” port executive director Skip Kaup told the Victoria Advocate.
