Plans Unveiled for 550K-SF Former Post Office Building

Lovette Commercial introduced redevelopment plans for Houston’s former Barbara Jordan Post Office at 401 Franklin St. The Houston-based developer acquired the 550,000-square-foot building in August 2015, and is planning to convert it into a mixed-use development. The project will offer restaurant, retail and entertainment.

A groundbreaking ceremony on the project is scheduled for June 27. OMA and Powers Brown Architecture are designing the project. In July 2018, a $31 million building permit was filed for renovation work at the property.
Situated on 16 acres, the property includes a five-story office building and two-story industrial building. Prior to the 2015 sale, the U.S. Postal Service had made several attempts to sell the asset.
