Planning Process Begins on 400-Acre Lakeside Meadows
The city of Pflugerville, TX, is mulling a zoning change request for more than 400 acres of land south of Lake Pflugerville. Specifically, the request involves conversion from its current agricultural, urban and urban center designation into a planned unit development district (PUD) known as Lakeside Meadows.
Developer Vista Planning & Design envisions the proposed development as an “urban destination,” mixed-use project offering residential, employment and commercial components within a pedestrian-friendly environment. The proposal suggested:
- Mixed-use commercial, 35.7 acres
- Single-family residential village, 35.7 acres
- Single-family attached village, 14.2 acres
- Multifamily residential, 22.7 acres
- Corporate campus, 22.7 acres
- Industrial campus, 70.7 acres
- Commercial, 7.7 acres
The city requires a minimum of 15.3 acres of public parkland under the proposal; the PUD’s current draft form offers 19.3 acres of creditable park land. The Pflugerville Planning and Zoning Commission voted in favor of the draft proposal. The city council will consider the proposal at its Jan. 14, 2020 meeting.
