Park and Retail Still a While Away
A park-for-retail swap Longview, TX voters approved last year is still waiting to happen. Specifically, the land making up Hinsley Park at Hawkins Parkway and US 259 in Longview is still waiting to lose its park designation, for development of a retail center. According to Craig Carney, one of the developers, the new park, on different land, is about a year away, and it will be still another year before the accompanying shopping center opens.
Carney said all permits will be acquired to build a new Hinsley Park off Judson Road, with opening to take place late next year. The developers will then begin work on the retail development, Hinsley Crossing, at the site of the old park, which could open in late 2018. Houston-based SDI Realty is also involved with the development.
