Packing House District Project Planned in Downtown Redlands
A new community destination is in the works in downtown Redlands, CA, where a more traditional retail project was planned nearly 10 years ago by the Howard Hughes Corp. Now, a 10.42-acre site is being proposed as an 88,075-square-foot Redlands Packing House District- themed commercial center.
Redlands-based Property One LLC acquired the urban property and is seeking to change a standing conditional-use permit, including a smaller scale and new theme, designed by architecture firm, DLR Group.
The Redlands Planning Commission reviewed and found favor with the proposed packing house design plan, but has suggested layout changes, such as continuous storefronts and more welcoming entrances. DLR’s Michael Stephens said the firm will revise the plan to address the concerns.
