Overstock.com Opts for KC in Fulfillment Center Lease

Overstock.com has leased 517,391 square feet of industrial space at BH Properties’ 5300 Kansas Ave. in Kansas City, KS. The online retailer has two other regional distribution centers in Carlisle, PA and its hometown of Salt Lake City.

Steve Gozini, president and CEO of Santa Monica, CA-based BH, credited regional economic development organizations, including KC SmartPort, the Wyandotte Economic Development Council and the Kansas Department of Commerce, with influencing the retailer to locate in Kansas City after a nationwide search. With access to four Interstates, the region offers the ability to ship anywhere in the contiguous U.S. within three days.

BH Properties was represented in-house by Bill Hardy and by Newmark Grubb Zimmer’s John Hassler and Mark Long. Overstock.com was represented in the full-building lease by Long and by Luke Burbank and Kyle Roberts from Newmark Grubb Acres in Salt Lake City.
