Northern Tool Planning Move into Shuttered Movie Theater

A former AMC theater in Abilene, TX will be the site for a Northern Tool + Equipment retail store. Plans have been filed with the city for the space at 3234 S. Clack St. in southwest Abilene. The former theater is part of the 156,000-square-foot Park Central Shopping Center.

Northern Tool + Equipment, headquartered in Minnesota, sells a variety of tools and accessories, ranging from welding equipment, to air compressors, to generators, towing accessories and hand power tools. The company operates more than 26 stores throughout Texas, according to the website.

The AMC Classic Abilene closed May 3, 2018. AMC, headquartered in Leawood, KS, acquired the former Carmike theater and other movie companies, becoming the largest movie theater chain in the United States.
