No Smoking in Dallas Parks

The city of Dallas recently put into place a smoking ban in public parks. The Dallas City Council approved the ordinance in November. The new ordinance impacts approximately 400 parks and 100 miles of trails that are managed by the city. Violators of the law could end up paying a hefty fine of up to $200 if caught smoking.

If there is any downside for those who don’t like breathing in second-hand smoke, it’s that the ordinance applies ONLY to city managed parks and trails. Outdoor entities that are managed by private partners – such as the Dallas Zoo, the Dallas Arboretum, or Fair Park – are exempt from the ban.
