Next Vegas $4B Mega-Resort Set to Re-Launch Development
Resorts World Las Vegas plans to resume construction in Q3 2017 on a $4-billion, 3,200-room north Strip mega-resort that is slated to open in 2020. With a new design phase nearing completion, the work will shift to building the 100,000-square-foot casino podium and hotel towers, one encompassing 1,800 rooms and the other 1,400.
Malaysia-based Genting Group is developing the modern Chinese-themed resort on a 63-acre site it acquired for $350 million in 2013. It initially started building in 2015. The land once was home to the Stardust, which was imploded more than 10 years ago.
A subsidiary of Genting Berhad, the developer has five decades of tourism experience. The company employs roughly 60,000 people, and its global resorts are visited by 50 million people annually. Genting’s flagship resort is the Genting Highlands in Malaysia, located in the Titiwangsa Mountains northeast of Kuala Lumpur.
