New Land Use Categories Developed for SA Tomorrow
Over the past 25 years, the city of San Antonio has adopted more than 40 different land use plans. Some cover different parts of town, with only a handful of them being updated. The good news? City staff developed 20 new and revised land-use categories for the SA Tomorrow comprehensive plan.
Current land uses are out of date, not to mention contradictory, depending on the geographic area. Proposed land uses under SA Tomorrow would include various densities of residential real estate, different types of retail centers, different mixed-use types, and federal and state land.
SA Tomorrow’s comprehensive plan is preparing the metro for projected growth of one- million people by 2040. The plan’s elements focus on issues including transportation, growth and city form, housing, historic preservation and jobs and economic competitiveness.
