New International Building Owner Planning Hotel
Attorney Tony Nguyen recently acquired the mostly vacant, nine-floor International Building at 119 N. Stanton St. in downtown El Paso from California-based Stanton Street Development LLC. The new owner, who has practices in Austin and El Paso, is planning to renovate the more than 90-year-old office building, and turn it into the CBD’s 10th planned hotel.
Nguyen wants to put the building under a major hotel brand, but didn’t provide specifics, including how many rooms. He did say that he plans to open the hotel as the sole owner.
The 73,334-square-foot International Building is across the street from two new hotels that are also in renovated buildings. Nguyen said his project should be open and operational in about two years.
