New Eastbound PATH Station Opening in Harrison
The new eastbound Harrison PATH station, representing the second phase of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s $256-million modernization of the facility, opens to riders on Saturday. The PATH station development is seen as a critical part of the broader commercial and real estate development occurring across Harrison, NJ, from new residential buildings to the Red Bull Arena soccer stadium.
“The completion of this new facility represents a significant milestone in modernizing PATH’s facilities to improve our customers’ experience,” said executive director Rick Cotton. “We are committed to continue to upgrade the travel experience for customers of PATH as well as the customer experience at all of our other facilities.”
Among other features, the new station has an extended platform that will be able to accommodate longer, 10-car trains on the Newark–World Trade Center line. Harrison PATH ridership has risen 30% over the past six years.
