Navistar Readies to Build $250M Factory

Global truck manufacturer Navistar International targeted San Antonio for a factory, with plans to invest $250 million into a plant on the south side. The investment is based on state and local government approval of economic incentives. Once passed, the Illinois-headquartered company could begin construction on the factory as early as the end of 2019.

The truck manufacturer will build medium- and heavy-duty trucks at the plant, which will be near the Interstate 35 and 37 corridors, as well as close to the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas factory. JLL worked with Navistar to track down the site, which was not disclosed, due to current negotiations.

Bexar County Commissioners will vote on an incentive package on Oct. 1. Meanwhile, the San Antonio City Council is expected to vote on an economic agreement in late October.
