Nation’s Largest Rooftop Deck Slated for Navy Pier

A rooftop deck said to be the nation’s largest is slated to open at the end of May atop Navy Pier’s Festival Hall. Known as Offshore, the 36,000-square-foot deck was developed by Acron Group, which is also building a four-star hotel, the Sable at Navy Pier.

The all-season/all-weather deck will feature a luminous bar, kitchen, terraces, fire pits, an entertainment and gaming area and multiple large gathering spaces. Overseeing the kitchen will be executive chef Michael Shrader, who also served as executive chef for the N9NE Group and was the founder of Urban Union Chicago. For Offshore, Shrader will focus on seasonal American cuisine.

“Where other companies might see difficulties, we discover untapped potential,” said Acron CEO Peer Bender. “To the point, no one has ever built a hotel and the likes of the ‘Offshore’ rooftop venue before on the famous Navy Pier.”
