MXU Would Redevelop Long-Disused Lot in Hartford
Long-disused city-owned land in Hartford, CT may be the future home of a mixed-use project from a Hartford-based development team. Five years after a previous scenario was scrapped, an RFP for developing the 2.3 acres of land at Park and Main streets has yielded a recommendation for a partnership of nonprofit developer Corporation for Independent Living and Amenta Emma Architects.
Plans call for a quartet of four story mixed-use buildings, including both mixed-income apartments and retail space, and 10 townhomes. “We look forward to working with CIL and Amenta Emma to refine their proposal and determine whether we can move forward with a viable project on this strategically located land,” Jamie Brätt, Hartford’s director of economic planning and development, told the Hartford Courant.
There’s no timetable for launching construction. However, CIL president Kent Schwendy told the Courant he anticipates community discussions over the next six to eight months.
